The Swordman's Forge
Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 | NRSV
– …and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Eph. 6:17 NRS) –
What is the Swordman’s Forge?
Back in the 1980s, I discovered the internet. It was still in its infancy, but the idea of sharing thoughts online and interacting with others (for better or worse) was an intriguing experience. Since my passion has always been for the Bible, much of the dialog I had with others revolved around that text and its interpretation. In those days, I took the handle of “Swordman” based on Hebrews 4:12.
Over the years, I have sought to forge my understanding of Biblical text, hermeneutical principles, and theology through formal training, research, dialog, and some general musings on Scripture. Ironically, in the end, I was the one being forged. This may seem odd, but the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). I hope you enjoy or at least find these thoughts intriguing.
